Puerto Peñasco, Mexico aka Rocky Point
(scheduled monthly)
Serve the community as you volunteer for a weekend learning from NWB's expert naturopathic global health doctors, only a 5 hour drive from Phoenix, Arizona!
NWB's longest-running project involves direct care but also supports our Community Health Worker, Merari, in educating the community and maintaining followup with those we serve.
We are proud to be partnered with our host Templo La Hermosa since 2019 and supporting the children of AIM Peñasco.
Mexico Week-Long Global Citizens Program
Join us March 24-31 (or dates proposed by groups) for our first service learning trip spanning a week to help our community partners and train our Community Health Workers!
phoenix @ PEACEWORK MEDICAL, Arizona
(scheduled monthly)
Help us help the underserved LGBT community of Phoenix in a truly integrative setting, alongside PAs, MDs, NPs and students. With a transgender and primary care focus, NWB helps to keep naturopathic care sustainable in a free clinic setting.
Peacework Medical has served communities in need around the world since 2001, and Phoenix since 2015.
Cap Haitien, Haiti
(return TBD pending covid-19)
Bring your skills to help Dr. Sara Polanco and NWB's Haitian Community Health Workers educate and heal the rural areas surrounding Cap Haitien. Learn how group medical visits, training local health professionals and restoring lost knowledge of local medicinal plants are KEY to NWB's model of global healthcare.
Haiti is NWB's full-time project, with 3 focuses:
- Delivering community health education and resources through training, hiring and supporting Community Health Workers
- Training local healthcare professionals with new naturopathic tools
- Direct care through shared medical visits (group visits)
Hill tribes of chiang rai, Thailand
(Return tbd pending covid-19)
Work in a village by day, sleep in a village by night in the mountains of Chiang Rai Thailand where Dr. David Mar Naw tirelessly provides the only healthcare to Burmese hill tribes. Volunteers operate an entire clinic to help Dr. Mar Naw help others for 1 week or longer.
For over 20 years Dr. Mar Naw's approach has evolved from clinician to public health champion. Tired of treating the same infectious disease complaints repeatedly, he raised funds to build toilets and water systems for each of the villages where he works. He also responds to humanitarian crises in the area such as the acute need for care due to political violence in neighboring Myanmar (formerly Burma).
