Sharon understands the ins and outs of volunteering in the culture and climate. During her 1-year stint of volunteering as a registered nurse in 2011 in Vaudreuil, Haiti (located just beyond Cap-Haitien), she connected to NWB along with many other NGOs to collaborate patient care. If she doesn’t know the answer to a NWB question, she’ll get you in touch with someone who knows. She’s worked as a nurse since 2002 in urban and rural settings in Wisconsin and New Mexico and it’s currently her pleasure to work on the only certified American Burn Association Burn Unit in Colorado where she recently moved with her husband. She loves trail running, yoga and biking. If she’s not on the move, you might find her at home knitting, baking or gardening. If you’ve volunteered with NWB in the past, Sharon would love to hear feedback about the preparation process and if you’re about to go she’s the one who’s going to send a lot of valuable material to prepare you!
Dieula has been working with NWB directors since 2011 as head cook. Now trained to teach infant massage, cooking classes, community health education and empowerment talks and provides massages for specific patients at NWB’s clinics. Dieula provides for her 2 children and extended family.
Orisma began managing NWB’s community garden in 2013 and now takes care of all landscaping, conventional gardening and the Garden Pool. He is the hardest worker you will ever meet and his deep knowledge of growing and the medicinal uses of plants is invaluable.
Prophete has served as House Manager for NWB-Haiti since 2014. His business background, connections and desire to help his community strengthen NWB’s operations and outreach.
Andriss is an Agronomist Tech who first worked with NWB to build the Garden Pool in 2014. He now works part-time in security and in developing NWB’s sustainable food production.
Markenson has been a guard for NWB-Haiti since 2013, using the income to build his own cellphone business in Cap Haitien.
Manise cooks when our Global Citizens volunteers need fuel for their service learning! A regular fixture of NWB-Haiti since 2013, Manise lives in Port Margot and she’s thrilled to work and start impromptu dance parties with her cousin Dieula.
